Motorcoach Marketing Council Survey

Trailways Team Members–April 30, 2014 Survey Deadline

We are contemplating utilizing the Motorcoach Council’s new marketing template program (Toolbox), which offers a variety of marketing programs and messages, whereby, we would secure some of these tools, on your company’s behalf, and imprint the various program templates using the Trailways brand.

There are approximately 19 marketing programs and 13 individual marketing messages available for purchase from the Motorcoach Council.

By selecting ten (10) different marketing programs and five (5) individual marketing messages we believe we could secure enough variety to offer an excellent sampling of programs for your company’s marketing efforts.

We invite you to submit ten (10) preferred marketing programs from the nineteen outlined below as well as five (5) preferred marketing messages from the list of thirteen also listed below so we can analyze the most desired marketing programs and messages on behalf of the entire Trailways network.

Alan Thrasher Elected to Trailways Board of Directors

Fairfax, VA – April 22, 2014 – Trailways Transportation System (Trailways) stockholders elected Alan Thrasher during the organization’s 78th annual gathering held March 2014.

Thrasher will represent Trailways’ Southeast Region as he begins his three-year term on its Board of Directors. Thrasher is president and co-owner of Thrasher Brothers Trailways in Birmingham, AL, a company his father, Jim Thrasher, founded in 1971. Alan also sits on the board of the United Motorcoach Association.

Thrasher said one of his priorities as he takes the leadership position is to help find new opportunities for the Trailways network of companies to work together for mutual benefit. Thrasher has been at the helm for several national and international Trailways transportation projects, including the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

“One of the opportunities we need to develop is the interchange of drivers and equipment within the guidelines of federal law,” he said. “There’s also potential for more organized competition with low-cost carriers that do not have Trailways’ decades of safe and secure operations behind them.”

Local and national branding-strength is another area Thrasher says he believes the board can help Trailways stockholder-companies better utilize to gain additional benefit for their companies.

“While our national brand carries a legacy of nearly 80 years of trusted public transportations service, I value the local brands too. In many cases, they have been successful banners for our individual companies for a long time. We will continue to assist owners with integration of the global identity and all it stands for with what they already possess. “

Thrasher has been a part of his family’s motorcoach transportation business since the age of eleven when he first began his career in the industry, washing vehicles.

By age 17, he was driving buses and traveled for over a decade with concert group clients, including the Thrasher Brothers gospel quartet.  Alan and his sister Alyce acquired ownership of the bus company in 2007. Thrasher Brothers Trailways has been affiliated with the Trailways network for nearly 15 years.

May 21: All CMV Drivers Must Get Medical Certificates from a Certified Medical Examiner

The National Registry law goes into effect May 21, 2014. After that date, all interstate commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers must get their medical certificates from a certified medical examiner listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.

Find a certified medical examiner in your area—or anywhere in the country—by following these three simple steps.

  1. Visit the National Registry Web site and search by Zip Code, State, or examiner name.
  2. Choose a certified medical examiner from the list and call to make an appointment.
  3. If your preferred health care professional isn’t on the list, simply refer him or her to the Certified Medical Examiners page to learn more about getting certified.

If you’ve already had an exam and have a current certificate that certificate will be valid until its regular expiration date.

Please spread the word and encourage your fellow CMV drivers to find a Certified Medical Examiner by May 21st. They can find more information in the Fact Sheet for Drivers or by going to the National Registry Web site.
