Trailways Safety Award winners 2016

Press Release

April 6, 2017 – At the 81st Annual Trailways Meeting, held March 26-28, 2017 in California, recipients of the organization’s Safety Awards were announced. The Trailways Safety Award requires a company to provide quarterly safety records.  They must be accident-free for the year (2016) for all of their drivers and vehicles.

The awards were presented at a dinner gala at the conference sponsored by MCI, and announced by their representative, Pat Ziska, with co-host, Scott Henry, Martz Trailways, PA.

They announced:

We recognize the following company for achieving the following Safety 2016 Awards:
o   For Fleet Service Safety in the Charter & Tour Division

AND the Scheduled Route Division for the Category of LESS Than Two Million Miles Traveled…

The recipient for BOTH awards is Arrow Trailways of Killeen, Texas

Accepting for Arrow, who could not be at the conference, is Trailways Chairman, Jonathan Berzas (Fullington Trailways, PA).

o   Fleet Service for Safety in the Scheduled Route Division for the Category of MORE than Two Million Miles Traveled…

The recipient is Martz Trailways of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania

In addition to the Safety Awards, MCI also presented Service Awards to Trailways companies to recognize their contributions to the organization or other success.  Pat Ziska announced:

Our first award is to a proactive company that is very involved and supportive of Trailways.  The award is for their terrific new website.  This person quickly reacted and got a new website up and running in just 40 days!  The “New Frontier Award” goes to CURTIS RIGGS, of VIA Trailways with offices in Arizona and California.

This next award is for Hospitality…which, after all, is the business we’re all in every day.

As you all know, the Inauguration was held in Washington, D.C. this past January as well as the Women’s March later… our Trailways companies were warmly welcomed during the events in Maryland.  At this facility, the drivers cleaned their vehicles, rested and of course, had doughnuts!  The Hospitality award goes to MARCIA MILTON of FIRST PRIORITY TRAILWAYS (MD) for their kind hospitality to our drivers and crew.

The next award is for someone who has done an outstanding job at his company with Customer Service.

As we all know and heard again today during the Workshop, customer service is still king.  This company excelled this past year by launching a new Call Center.  This award goes to SCOTT HENRY & HIS TEAM AT MARTZ TRAILWAYS of PENNSYLVANIA.

And now, the entire Trailways family would like to say thank you and recognize an industry leader with us tonight.

This person has served more than 20 years in the bus industry, tirelessly fighting for us on Capitol Hill as well as promoting safety and service.  Please join us in a standing ovation for VIC PARRA of United Motorcoach Association (UMA), retiring this year from the organization that he served so well for nearly 20 years.
