Volvo sponsors and stages the Ocean Race – Exciting Finish Pending in 5 Days

The Volvo Ocean Race sails in quest of adventurous competition on cleaner seas –

Having set sail in October 2017, this 9 month Volvo Ocean Race will conclude soon at The Hague, The Netherlands.

(May 31, 2018, Sainte Claire, QC) — The annual Volvo Ocean Race launched in 1973, sails on as the ultimate challenge in seamanship. Volvo Group and Volvo Car jointly own this worldwide regatta as a worthwhile conveyance to conduct business and promote their brand; pointing to the convincing and parallels between this race and the culture and values that drive Volvo forward — strength, endurance and adventurous competition backed by innovation and technology.

Commencing for nine months out of the year over the course of 46,000 nautical miles, across four oceans and six continents with stopovers in 13 host cities, the Volvo Ocean Race serves as the ultimate platform to deliver the deeper message to international audiences that the world’s oceans are in trouble.

Volvo races for clean ocean global awareness

Volvo’s herculean effort in sponsoring and staging the Ocean Race promotes global awareness of the necessity to keep the oceans of the world clean and free of further pollution, most notably everyday single-use plastic items such as straws, water bottles and shopping bags.

In conjunction with its sustainability partners, 11th Hour Racing and Bluewater, Volvo Ocean Race Education Program is conducting its Ocean Summits in seven stopover cities as part of the United Nations Environment’s Clean Seas campaign. These focused presentations bring leaders from sports, industry, government and science together to address innovations and solutions to the global crisis of ocean plastic pollution.

“Plastics pollution is one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time,” he says. “We take our responsibility seriously to play our part and help tackle this global catastrophe.”

Having set sail in October 2017, this edition of the Volvo Ocean Race will conclude in June at The Hague, The Netherlands.

Prevost Sponsorship Helps BISC Advance its Safety Mission

Prevost Sponsorship Helps BISC Advance its Safety Mission

Prevost News Release – BISC Sponsorship 3-18[37482]

(March 27, 2018, Sainte Claire, QC) — Prevost is pleased to announce its recent agreement to sponsor the Bus Industry Safety Council (BISC) in the interest of advancing overall bus safety for all operators and bus and coach passengers.

Under the umbrella of the American Bus Association (ABA), BISC is a collective of safety-minded individuals who embody every role of the bus and coach industry, addressing every safety concern from shop safety, driver training to vehicle technology and regulatory compliance.

Similarly, as part of the Volvo Group, Prevost heralds its safety mission as a core value and guiding principle.  Building on its legacy, the Volvo 9700 coach continues to set the highest safety standards possible. Advanced systems for driver assistance, high-efficiency brakes, seat belts and world-class protective structures are standard Volvo safety features.

Manifested as Zero Accident Vision, Volvo’s definitive goal of its all-encompassing safety initiative is to ensure no Volvo vehicle is ever involved in an accident.” We have always put safety first, as do the members of BISC.” says Michael Power, vice president, Marketing, Prevost & Nova Bus. It is in our DNA to plan and design vehicles that lead the industry in safety and protection. Our hope for our sponsorship of BISC is to help instill all bus and coach operators with a similarly robust safety philosophy.”

ABA founded BISC in 1999 as a forum for bus and coach operators, safety directors, maintenance supervisors as well as OEMs, vendors and government agencies to focus on advancements in safe bus and motorcoach operations.

“Speaking for all BISC members, we greatly appreciate this tremendous boost Prevost brings to our efforts through its sponsorship,” says BISC Chairman, Alan Smith safety director, Greyhound Lines, Dallas, TX. “Not only do we have the backing and support of a truly, quality company that shares our vision, BISC is now in a position to grow and develop from Prevost’s vast safety research and resources.”

He says through this partnership, the industry can expect more action from BISC with proven results on very specific safety issues; particularly those involving the ever-changing advancements in vehicle safety technology.

“We appreciate the commitment and foresight Prevost brings to this sponsorship,” says ABA President & CEO Peter Pantuso. “Prevost will not only help BISC grow its membership and reach new heights, the company will further establish itself as one of the pre-eminent safety leaders in the motorcoach industry.”
